Solving Games

When we work with equations, apart from manipulating the equation, the purpose is usually to solve it. This activity when carried out successfully gives one a sense of achievement, similar to when we play games and succeed. This fun side is what I wish to convey to the student of equations, hence the page title.

Apart from simple equations, at this level we work with quadratics that are related to parabolas. It is useful to tie the algebra into a visualisation using a cartesian coordinate system.

For solving quadratics we may also have to use the quadratic equation and we need to be introduced to the difference between real and imaginary solutions.
